PIN House

Many have been asking me about our PIN program, (Persons In Need) that we operated across the street at the White House and what we are doing now to help  during the Pandemic, so I thought I’d provide an update in our bulletin.  For those of you not familiar with this important program let me summarize it:

Over the past 20 years, PIN has provided a Parish opportunity to live the Gospel values in our lives.  Our Parishioners have devoted their time, talent, and treasure to create a community that reflects the love that the Lord asked us  to extend to all, starting with the “least amongst us”, the working poor and those who find themselves without housing.

What we provide:

  • A place where  they are welcomed and not judged, and the experience of Jesus’ love through those who serve

  • A hot meal, a cup of coffee, and respite from the difficult lives they lead

  • A shower for those finding themselves without other resources

  • A haircut (provided by, services donated weekly by skilled volunteers.

  • Clothing ,toiletries and food to go  donated by Parishioners

The Knights of Columbus, have provided much  support to this program.  And each week, a different family or group has taken the lead to prepare and serve a hot meal…that’s 52 volunteer families/groups per year!  We also have provided a supervised opportunity for our Confirmation candidates and other youth service groups to work toward their hours, assisting with food preparation, putting together toiletry bags, etc.

We served between 60-90 guests per week, some who have acquired housing but still feel a part of this community.  We have most recently partnered with CitiNet to assist in resource coordination for those looking to improve their situation through housing or other needs.

As it becomes safe to again congregate, we look forward to returning to this important work.

In the meantime we are partnering with the First Presbyterian Church with Burgie and Judy who serve hot meals three to four times a week, the Knights of Columbus under the leadership of the Deputy Grand Knight Robert Roberto,  and  St. Vincent de Paul under the directorship of Jerry Teahan to provide food bags etc. to the many who have come by on Saturdays (drive by style) and  who are in dire need of resources. Last week we served over sixty cars.

Our next service date will be Saturday August 22 , and the following one will be September 26.

If any parishioner needs any assistance please call 1-714-539-9133 so we can prepare accordingly for the correct number.

We usually serve from 10:00A.M until 11:30 A.M

May God bless in a very special way all who reach out to the vulnerable in our midst especially during this pandemic.

In Christ,

Sr. Brid
