Dear parishioners of St Columban parish!

 This Sunday, as we approach the final days of Lent, the Church presents us with the moving story of the raising of Lazarus (John 11:1–45). We witness a profound mystery: Jesus weeps with those who mourn, yet He also speaks the words that bring life from death: “Lazarus, come out!” This miracle is more than a historical event; it points to the promise of new life that Christ offers to each of us. The first reading from Ezekiel reminds us that God can bring life out of what seems completely dead. He says, “I will open your graves and bring you up from them… I will put my spirit in you, and you shall live.” Lent calls us to trust in God’s power to transform our lives, to turn despair into hope, and sin into grace. No matter how broken or distant we feel from God, He invites us to new life through His Son. Paul’s words in Romans reinforce this truth: “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also.” This Lent, we are invited to let the Spirit of Christ dwell more fully in our hearts—through prayer, repentance, and acts of love—so that we can experience His life-giving presence in every part of our lives.

 Lent is a journey from death to life. Like Lazarus, we may feel buried by sin, fear, or sadness. But Christ’s call is clear: “Come out!” He asks us to rise from what holds us back and to walk in the light of His love. Let us respond with faith, trusting that the same Lord who raised Lazarus will also raise us to new life—both now in our hearts and ultimately in the glory of His kingdom. May this week of Lent be a time of renewal for all of us, as we allow Christ to awaken new life within our souls.

Anh chị em thân mến trong Chúa Kitô,

Tuẩn này thứ hai,thứ ba và thứ tư chúng ta sẽ có 3 ngày tĩnh tâm do Cha Phạm Tĩnh vói chủ để “Cám dỗ.” Từ 7-9pm. Kính mời toàn thể cộng đoàn đến tham dự đông đủ và thứ năm Ngày 25 lúc 7pm tối Giáo Xứ chúng ta sẽ có giải tội Kính mời quí ông bà anh chị em đến hòa giải với Cúa

Trong Chúa Nhật V Mùa Chay này, chúng ta tiến gần đến những ngày cuối cùng của Mùa Chay, và Giáo Hội mời gọi chúng ta chiêm ngắm biến cố phục sinh Ladarô (Gioan 11,1–45). Chúng ta thấy một mầu nhiệm sâu sắc: Chúa Giêsu khóc với những người đang thương tiếc, nhưng đồng thời Người cũng phán những lời đem lại sự sống: “Ladarô, ra ngoài!” Phép lạ này không chỉ là một sự kiện lịch sử, mà còn là lời hứa về sự sống mới mà Đức Kitô ban cho từng người chúng ta.

Bài đọc I từ tiên tri Êdêkien nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng Thiên Chúa có thể làm sống lại những gì tưởng chừng đã chết hoàn toàn. Ngài phán: “Ta sẽ mở mồ các ngươi và đưa các ngươi ra khỏi đó… Ta sẽ đặt Thần Khí của Ta trong các ngươi, các ngươi sẽ sống.” Mùa Chay mời gọi chúng ta tin tưởng vào quyền năng biến đổi của Thiên Chúa, để hy vọng được hồi sinh từ những tuyệt vọng, và đổi tội lỗi thành ân sủng. Dù chúng ta cảm thấy xa cách hay yếu đuối, Thiên Chúa vẫn mời gọi chúng ta đến với sự sống mới qua Con của Ngài. Thánh Phaolô trong thư Rôma củng cố niềm tin này: “Nếu Thần Khí của Đấng đã sống lại Đức Giêsu ngự trong anh em, Đấng đã làm sống lại Đức Kitô cũng sẽ ban sự sống cho thân xác các ngươi.” Mùa Chay là thời gian để chúng ta mở lòng đón nhận Thần Khí Chúa Giêsu nhiều hơn qua cầu nguyện, sám hối và việc làm lành. Khi đó, chúng ta sẽ cảm nhận được sự sống đầy năng lực của Người trong từng khoảnh khắc đời sống. Mùa Chay là hành trình từ sự chết đến sự sống. Như Ladarô, đôi khi chúng ta cảm thấy bị chôn vùi bởi tội lỗi, sợ hãi hay buồn đau. Nhưng tiếng Chúa gọi hôm nay vẫn vang lên: “Ra ngoài!” Chúa mời gọi chúng ta từ bỏ những gì níu kéo mình, bước đi trong ánh sáng tình yêu của Người. Hãy đáp trả với niềm tin, tin rằng Đấng đã làm sống lại Ladarô cũng sẽ ban cho chúng ta sự sống mới, bây giờ trong tâm hồn và sau này trong vinh quang Nước Trời.

Nguyện xin Chúa giúp mỗi người chúng ta biết mở lòng, đón nhận sự sống mới từ Chúa, và sống Mùa Chay như một hành trình đổi mới tâm hồn.

¡Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo!

 En este Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma, nos acercamos al final de nuestro camino cuaresmal y la Iglesia nos presenta la conmovedora historia de la resurrección de Lázaro (Juan 11,1–45). Vemos un misterio profundo: Jesús llora con aquellos que sufren, pero también pronuncia las palabras que devuelven la vida: “¡Lázaro, sal fuera!” Este milagro va más allá de un hecho histórico; nos revela la promesa de vida nueva que Cristo ofrece a cada uno de nosotros. La primera lectura de Ezequiel nos recuerda que Dios puede dar vida a lo que parece completamente muerto. Él dice: “Abriré sus tumbas y los sacaré de ellas… Pondré mi espíritu en ustedes y vivirán.” La Cuaresma nos llama a confiar en el poder de Dios para transformar nuestra vida, convertir la desesperanza en esperanza y el pecado en gracia. No importa cuán lejos o quebrantados nos sintamos, Dios nos invita a la vida nueva a través de su Hijo. San Pablo en Romanos refuerza esta verdad: “Si el Espíritu de Aquel que resucitó a Jesús de entre los muertos habita en ustedes, el que resucitó a Cristo también dará vida a sus cuerpos mortales.” Esta Cuaresma, estamos invitados a dejar que el Espíritu de Cristo habite más plenamente en nuestro corazón mediante la oración, la conversión y los actos de amor, para experimentar su presencia que da vida en cada aspecto de nuestra existencia.

 La Cuaresma es un camino de la muerte a la vida. Como Lázaro, a veces nos sentimos enterrados por el pecado, el miedo o la tristeza. Pero la llamada de Cristo es clara: “¡Sal fuera!” Nos invita a levantarnos de todo aquello que nos detiene y a caminar en la luz de su amor. Respondamos con fe, confiando en que el mismo Señor que resucitó a Lázaro nos dará nueva vida, ahora en nuestro corazón y, un día, en la gloria de su reino.

 Que esta semana de Cuaresma sea un tiempo de renovación para todos, permitiendo que Cristo despierte nueva vida en nuestra alma.
