Sunday 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time June 14, 2026

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,



The Word of God this Sunday invites us to reflect on who we are as God’s people and how we are sent forth as His workers in the world. The first reading from Exodus reminds us of God’s loving choice: “You shall be my treasured possession among all peoples… a kingdom of priests, a holy nation” (Ex 19:5–6). These words were spoken to Israel at Mount Sinai, but through Christ they are also spoken to us. We are not chosen because of our greatness, but because of God’s love. Our identity is rooted in belonging to Him. To be God’s people means to live differently set apart not by isolation, but by holiness, justice, and love. In the second reading, St. Paul deepens this truth by reminding us of the incredible love of God revealed in Christ: “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8). Here we see that God’s love is not a reward for our goodness, but a gift offered even in our weakness. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are reconciled with God. This reconciliation is not only a personal blessing but a mission. Those who have experienced mercy are called to become instruments of mercy for others. We are not just saved from something; we are saved for a purpose. The Gospel from Matthew shows us that purpose clearly. Jesus looks upon the crowds and is moved with compassion, “because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd” (Mt 9:36). He then calls His disciples and sends them out with authority to heal, cleanse, and proclaim: “The kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mt 10:7). This mission is not reserved for a few. It is the calling of the Church. Every baptized person is sent to bring Christ’s compassion into the world through words, actions, and witness.

Today’s readings remind us that being chosen by God is never for privilege alone, but always for mission. We are loved so that we may love. We are forgiven so that we may forgive. We are strengthened so that we may strengthen others. The message for us to live by :As God’s holy people, chosen and loved in Christ, let us go forth each day with compassion in our hearts, bringing healing, hope, and the message of God’s kingdom to those who feel lost, forgotten, or weary.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

La Palabra de Dios de este domingo nos recuerda nuestra identidad y misión como Pueblo de Dios en medio del mundo. En la primera lectura del libro del Éxodo, Dios habla a Israel en el Sinaí y dice: “Seréis para mí un reino de sacerdotes y una nación santa” (Ex 19,6). Estas palabras revelan que la elección de Dios no es un privilegio para aislarse, sino una llamada a vivir en santidad y a ser signo de su presencia entre los pueblos. También nosotros, por el Bautismo, hemos sido llamados a pertenecerle y a reflejar su amor en nuestra vida diaria.

En la segunda lectura, San Pablo nos recuerda el centro de nuestra fe: “Cuando todavía éramos débiles, Cristo murió por los impíos” (Rom 5,6). Esta frase nos muestra la profundidad del amor de Dios: no nos ama porque seamos perfectos, sino porque somos suyos. En Cristo hemos sido reconciliados con el Padre, y esa reconciliación nos transforma. El amor recibido no puede quedarse encerrado; se convierte en misión, en servicio y en testimonio hacia los demás.

En el Evangelio de Mateo, Jesús mira a las multitudes y siente compasión porque estaban “como ovejas sin pastor” (Mt 9,36). Por eso llama a sus discípulos y los envía a anunciar: “El Reino de los cielos está cerca” (Mt 10,7). Hoy también Cristo nos envía a nosotros. La Iglesia no puede quedarse pasiva; está llamada a ser presencia viva de compasión, de esperanza y de sanación en medio de un mundo herido.

Estas tres lecturas nos recuerdan una verdad fundamental: somos un pueblo elegido, amado y enviado. Elegidos por amor, salvados por la gracia de Cristo, y enviados a llevar esa misma misericordia a los demásVivamos cada día conscientes de que Dios nos ha elegido no para encerrarnos en nosotros mismos, sino para ser testigos de su amor. Allí donde estemos—en la familia, el trabajo o la comunidad—seamos instrumentos de compasión, llevando esperanza a los que se sienten solos y anunciando con nuestra vida que el Reino de Dios está cerca.

Kính thưa cộng đoàn Dân Chúa,

Lời Chúa trong Chúa Nhật hôm nay mời gọi chúng ta suy gẫm về căn tính và sứ mạng của người Kitô hữu giữa lòng thế giới.

Trong bài đọc I trích sách Xuất Hành, Thiên Chúa phán với dân Israel trên núi Sinai: “Các ngươi sẽ là một vương quốc tư tế, một dân thánh cho Ta” (Xh 19,6). Đây là lời khẳng định về tình yêu tuyển chọn của Thiên Chúa. Dân Chúa được chọn không phải vì công trạng, nhưng vì tình thương nhưng không của Ngài. Qua Bí tích Rửa Tội, chúng ta cũng được tham dự vào ơn gọi này: trở nên dân thánh, sống giữa đời nhưng thuộc về Thiên Chúa, để phản chiếu sự thánh thiện của Ngài bằng đời sống yêu thương và công chính.

Trong bài đọc II, thánh Phaolô nhắc nhở chúng ta về tình yêu cứu độ của Thiên Chúa: “Khi chúng ta còn là tội nhân, Đức Kitô đã chết vì chúng ta” (Rm 5,8). Đây là trọng tâm của đức tin Kitô giáo: Thiên Chúa yêu thương chúng ta không phải vì chúng ta xứng đáng, nhưng vì Ngài là Tình Yêu. Qua Đức Kitô chịu chết và sống lại, chúng ta được hòa giải với Thiên Chúa. Ơn hòa giải này không chỉ đem lại bình an cho cá nhân, nhưng còn thúc đẩy chúng ta sống tha thứ, cảm thông và trở nên khí cụ của lòng thương xót cho tha nhân.

Trong bài Tin Mừng theo thánh Mátthêu, Đức Giêsu nhìn thấy đám đông và chạnh lòng thương vì họ “lầm than vất vưởng như bầy chiên không người chăn dắt” (Mt 9,36). Ngài liền sai các môn đệ ra đi loan báo: “Nước Trời đã đến gần” (Mt 10,7). Hình ảnh này nhắc chúng ta rằng sứ mạng của Hội Thánh là sứ mạng của lòng thương xót. Chúng ta không thể đứng yên, nhưng được sai đi để đem niềm hy vọng, sự nâng đỡ và tình yêu của Thiên Chúa đến cho những người đang đau khổ và lạc hướng.

Ba bài đọc hôm nay cùng quy tụ một sứ điệp rõ ràng: chúng ta là dân được tuyển chọn, được yêu thương và được sai đi. Được chọn để sống thánh thiện, được yêu thương để biết yêu thương, và được sai đi để trở thành dấu chỉ của Nước Trời giữa trần gian. Mỗi ngày, chúng ta hãy ý thức rằng đời sống Kitô hữu không dừng lại ở việc giữ đạo, nhưng là sống sứ mạng. Xin Chúa giúp chúng ta biết mở lòng trước những người đang cần được nâng đỡ, biết đem lòng thương xót đến gia đình, giáo xứ và xã hội, để qua đời sống của chúng ta, người khác có thể nhận ra rằng Nước Thiên Chúa đang ở giữa họ.
