Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
As we begin our English, Hispanic, and Vietnamese Catechetical programs, as well as the Vietnamese Language School, on September 20, 2025. We want to remind the parents to please make your best efforts to bring your children to the classes and Mass on the weekends. Our sacrifice will be rewarded because our children will be grateful to us as they grow in their Catholic faith. May the Lord bless each one of you a new school year filled with God’s wisdom, love, and joy!
On this day, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a feast that invites us to contemplate the mystery of Christ’s suffering and the power of His love poured out on the Cross. The Cross, once a symbol of shame and execution, has become the greatest sign of God’s mercy and our salvation. It reminds us that love is stronger than hate, and that life conquers death. Through the Cross, Jesus embraced the fullness of human suffering and transformed it into the path of eternal life. This feast originated in the 4th century when St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, discovered what was believed to be the true Cross of Christ in Jerusalem. The Church then dedicated the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher on this day in the year 335. Since then, the Church has commemorated this moment as a time to lift high the Cross in faith, devotion, and hope. St Paul writes: “May I never boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 6:14) Let us reflect on our own lives:
· Where do we encounter the Cross today?
· Are we willing to embrace our crosses—our struggles, pain, and sacrifices—as opportunities to unite with Christ?
· Can we lift high the Cross not as a burden, but as a sign of hope and healing? As we venerate the Cross of Christ, may it inspire us to live lives of deeper love, humility, and service. May we, like Jesus, take up our cross each day and follow Him with trust.
Prayer: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

Lễ Suy Tôn Thánh Giá
Quý Ông Bà Anh Chị Em thân mến!
Thứ Bảy tuần này chúng ta sẽ bắt đầu khai giảng các chuơng trình Giáo Lý, Việt Ngữ và Thiếu Nhi. Mong rằng các phụ huynh chúng ta sẽ đem các em đi học giáo lý và đi tham dự thánh lễ thường xuyên để đời sống đức tin của các em được phát triển tốt đẹp hầu các em có thể trở thành những chứng nhân cho Chúa Kitô giữa trần gian. Giáo xứ xin chúc mừng tới quí Sơ Mến Thánh hôm nay mừng Lễ Quan Thầy xin Chúa ban cho quí Sơ được tràn đầy ân sủng của Chúa. Nguyện xin Chúa qua lời chuyển cầu của Đức Mẹ La Vang ban muôn ơn lành trên toàn thể quý ông bà anh chị em.
Hôm nay Chúa Nhật Ngày 14 tháng 9 hằng năm, Giáo Hội long trọng cử hành Lễ Suy Tôn Thánh Giá — một lễ trọng nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng Thánh Giá, từ một dụng cụ hành hình ô nhục, đã trở thành biểu tượng vinh quang của tình yêu, ơn cứu độ và sự sống đời đời. Theo truyền thống, vào thế kỷ thứ IV, Thánh Helena — mẹ của Hoàng đế Constantinô — đã tìm được Thánh Giá Chúa Giêsu tại Giêrusalem. Sau đó, vào ngày 14 tháng 9 năm 335, Giáo Hội đã cung hiến Đền Thờ Mộ Thánh nơi Chúa Giêsu chịu chết và sống lại. Từ đó, ngày này được chọn làm lễ Suy Tôn Thánh Giá để mời gọi tín hữu tôn vinh và chiêm ngắm mầu nhiệm của tình yêu hy sinh. Thánh Phaolô đã nói: “Ước chi tôi chẳng hãnh diện về điều gì, ngoài Thập Giá Đức Giêsu Kitô, Chúa chúng ta” (Gl 6,14). Ý nghĩa Thánh Giá trong đời sống chúng ta:
· Thánh Giá là tình yêu: Chúa đã yêu chúng ta đến nỗi hiến dâng mạng sống trên cây Thánh Giá.
· Thánh Giá là sức mạnh: Qua đau khổ, ta tìm thấy hy vọng và được củng cố đức tin.
· Thánh Giá là con đường: Mỗi Kitô hữu đều được mời gọi “vác thập giá mình hằng ngày mà theo Chúa” (Lc 9,23).
Trong cuộc sống, ai cũng có thập giá riêng: đau khổ, bệnh tật, thử thách, hy sinh vì gia đình, vì tha nhân... Nhưng khi chúng ta đón nhận thập giá với tình yêu và niềm tin vào Thiên Chúa, thập giá ấy không còn là gánh nặng, mà trở thành nguồn ơn và phúc lành.
Lời nguyện:
Lạy Chúa Giêsu, xin dạy con biết yêu mến Thánh Giá,
biết đón nhận hy sinh mỗi ngày trong đời sống,
để cùng với Chúa, con được bước vào vinh quang phục sinh

Fiesta de la Exaltación de la Santa Cruz
¡Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo!
Al comenzar nuestros programas catequéticos en inglés, español y vietnamita, así como la Escuela de Lengua Vietnamita, el 20 de septiembre de 2025, quiero recordarles a los padres que, por favor, hagan todo lo posible por traer a sus hijos a las clases y a la misa los fines de semana. Nuestro sacrificio será recompensado, porque nuestros hijos nos lo agradecerán al crecer en su fe católica. ¡Que el Señor bendiga a cada uno de ustedes en este nuevo año escolar, lleno de la sabiduría, el amor y la alegría de Dios!
La Exaltación de la Santa Cruz es una fiesta que celebra el misterio glorioso del instrumento de nuestra salvación: la cruz de Cristo. Lo que fue signo de humillación y muerte, se ha convertido en símbolo de victoria, amor y redención. Este día conmemora el hallazgo de la cruz de Cristo por Santa Elena, madre del emperador Constantino, en el siglo IV. También recuerda la dedicación de la Basílica del Santo Sepulcro en Jerusalén en el año 335. Desde entonces, la Iglesia ha celebrado este día como una ocasión solemne para alabar y exaltar la Cruz, que revela el amor sin medida de Dios por la humanidad. San Pablo nos recuerda: “Lejos esté de mí gloriarme, sino en la cruz de nuestro Señor Jesucristo” (Gálatas 6,14). La cruz no es solo un objeto devocional, sino una invitación a seguir a Cristo con entrega y fidelidad. En cada cruz que cargamos —dolores, dificultades, sacrificios— podemos descubrir una oportunidad para unirnos más íntimamente con Jesús, quien nos precedió en el camino del amor hasta el extremo.
¿Cómo exaltamos la cruz en nuestras vidas?
· Al perdonar en lugar de guardar rencor.
· Al servir en lugar de buscar el primer lugar.
· Al confiar en Dios aun en medio del sufrimiento.
Elevemos hoy la cruz no con tristeza, sino con esperanza. Ella es para nosotros árbol de vida, signo de victoria, y fuente de gracia.
Oración:
Te adoramos, oh Cristo, y te bendecimos,
porque por tu Santa Cruz redimiste al mundo.
¡Sinceramente suyo en Jesucristo y Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe!
